Controversial topics are legion these days. Race. Gender. Sexuality. Diet. Pick one. Share your opinion. Then hold your breath. You've probably offended someone. You've probably been offended. We're living in a culture of extremes. Fortunately, the New Testament provides examples and insights on how to face controversy with compassion. The Jerusalem Council in Acts 15 is a great model for maintaining unity amid diversity, which is worth the difficulty because it is inviting to others.

Let's Know the Bible Conference speaker, Dr. Cythia Westfall, talks about Paul's surprising encounters with Lydia on his second missionary journey. The Spirit of God sends the famed apostle on a 950 mile journey to Macedonia, and his first conversion happens at a riverside with the God-fearing, immigrant, self-employed Lydia. The modern day church could learn a few lessons from their fearless proclamation of Jesus is Lord.

Passage: Acts 2:1-47
Duration: 46 mins 49 secs
The Holy Spirit is shrouded in mystery and misunderstanding. We know what the Spirit does; we don't always know how the He works. Bu the book of Acts records his falling, fitting, filling, fortifying, and focusing of the early church. There is no church without the Spirit.
