Jesus sent his apostles to advance the good news of His resurrection and kingly reign. The church has lived as sent people ever since. Of course, being sent has a precedent in the Old Testament: Abraham, Moses, and Israel were sent people. And when sent people know their purpose and hear others praise God for their work, they fulfill their task with vigor.
