Confess

Confession may sound like a bad word. It is a spiritual purging, akin to a thick sweat or dry heave. But confession is actually a grace. God invites us to let go of our guilt and the sin that so easily entangles us in exchange for his forgiveness and perfect righteousness. The confession service in Nehemiah 9 provides a powerful model of corporate confession, illustrating the long back story of sin as a learned behavior, but the longer fuse of God, who is merciful.
