Up and Down

Passage:
Philippians 2:5-11
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
44 mins 34 secs
Male, Roman citizens in Paul's day were granted more privilege than anyone else in their day. They joined an "honors race" that Paul turned on its head. He encouraged people to reflect the ethic of Jesus: not ascending to the peak of the social ladder, but climbing down to the nadir. Learn how to admit, appreciate, limit, and leverage privilege from the famous Christ Hymn.

Strong Bonds
Sun, Feb 04, 2018
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Philippians 1:27-2:4
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
42 mins 57 secs
External pressures and internal tensions require us to build strong bonds. Followers of Jesus must stand firm against secular forces, as well as bind together against disunity. These are not easy tasks. They begin with a loyalty to Jesus and stay firm when followers of Jesus practice humility.

Live Fully
Sun, Jan 28, 2018
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Philippians 1:18-26
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
45 mins 32 secs
Our culture denies death. Listen to the headlines advertisements: we're always attempted to prolong life, mask aging, and defeat sickness. The apostle Paul faced his mortality. "To live is Christ and to die is gain," he wrote. He cares less about ending suffering, and more about intimacy with Jesus. Listen in.

Roadblocks
Sun, Jan 21, 2018
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Philippians 1:12-18
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
40 mins 19 secs
Sometimes we get rerouted. Our GPS helps us avoid traffic jams or construction zones. We are accustomed to new routes. But when God allows a roadblock in our life (like Paul's imprisonment), we too quickly panic. We need to remember these are opportunities to see Him work.

Prayer for Abundance
Sun, Jan 14, 2018
by
Branden Pahl
Passage:
Philippians 1:9-11
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
37 mins 24 secs
One of the best ways to serve others is pray for them. When we talk to God about others, we lay before him their greatest needs. And, as Paul teaches us, that's not for a job promotion or healthy diagnosis, but for abounding love, discernment, and hope for Jesus' return.

Linking Arms
Sun, Jan 07, 2018
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Philippians 1:1-8
&
Philippians 4:14-23
Series:
Linked: Philippians
Duration:
47 mins 9 secs
The Christian life is not a solo performance. God links his people together in grateful, loving relationships to help us work for his good. He calls us to be team players, which is not only counter cultural, but also difficult when you feel like you let the team down (or it lets you down). Nevertheless, the call to link arms remains.

Trust Big
Sun, Dec 31, 2017
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Psalms 16:1-11
Duration:
40 mins 45 secs
Trust Big is the theme for 2018. It sees faith as more than a matter of intellectual assent. It is a relationship with God, where asking and expecting, abiding and rejoicing mark a healthy dynamic. Hear how to make this theme a reality in every day life for 2018.

Satan the Grinch
Sun, Dec 24, 2017
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Revelation 12:1-17
&
1 John 2:1
Series:
Original Grinches
Duration:
27 mins 9 secs
Satan was the most original Grinch. He is hellbent on stealing joy and destroying all God holds dear. One of his age-old tactics is to accuse God's people. But Jesus' birth, life, death, resurrection, and ascension sent Satan sputtering. God's people have an Advocate, and need not heed Satan's accusations any further.

Herod the Grinch
Sun, Dec 17, 2017
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Matthew 2:1-23
Series:
Original Grinches
Duration:
44 mins 43 secs
History knew him as Herod the Great, but really, he was Herod the Grinch. When he caught wind of a new king in town, his paranoia soared. So it happens with powerful people. So it happens to us, when our power is threatened. Herod the Grinch tried to kill the baby Jesus, but God would not allow Herod the Grinch to stop Christmas from coming. It came.

Grinch Joseph
Sun, Dec 10, 2017
by
Tim Sprankle
Passage:
Matthew 1:1-25
Series:
Original Grinches
Duration:
46 mins 57 secs
Joseph had an opportunity to stop Christmas from coming. He could have asked for Mary to be stoned. It would have been within his rights, considering she was with child and it was not his. But Joseph resolved for a more merciful decision, putting his role above his reputation. In a shame-sensitive society, his choice was wonderful.
